first_imgThe City of Fort St. John hasn’t applied for this particular grant before. City Council have approved a request for the Mayor and the Director of Legislative and Administrative Services to apply for $20,000 towards the Canada 150 Mosaic project, to Heritage Canada.$12,500 has already been committed in the 2016 budget to fund physically producing the mural — the additional grant funds would be used for event venues, marketing and promotions, and celebrations throughout the project. The goal of the project is to produce a community mural mosaic in support of Canada’s 150 birthday in 2017.- Advertisement -Mayor Lori Ackerman said it’s a ‘remarkable opportunity,’ as Fort St. John is one of 15 communities in the province participating. This mural will be developed and constructed all throughout next year, and ultimately unveiled early in 2017.Staff have reached out to community stakeholders, including Tourism FSJ, Arts Council, Schools and other interested groups and individuals, who may wish to become involved with the project.Advertisementlast_img read more
