LEADERSHIP CRISIS SPLITS CDC BONG CHAPTER

first_imgThe leadership crisis between Victor Wesseh on one hand and Delano Kollie on the other, is said to be deepening by the day as both are claiming the chairmanship of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in Bong County.Delano Kollie is claiming that he is the legitimate chairman of the party in the county on grounds that he was appointed by George Solo. George Solo has been suspended by the party’s National Executive Committee for acts which the Party termed as violation of its constitution.Victor Wesseh, on the other hand, said he is the rightful choice of the partisans because, according to him, he was elected by supporters of the CDC at the party’s local convention in Gbarnga early this year.As a result of the alarming leadership crisis between the two, partisans of the CDC are said to be divided, something political pundits say may diminish the chances of the party in the forthcoming senatorial election in the county.Since the conduct of the party’s primary, Delano Kollie has been using a license plate on his car with the inscription” CDC Bong 1”.“I started using this license plate since we ended the convention because I am the lawful chairman of the party in the county” Mr. Delano Kollie emphasized.According to information gathered by this newspaper, it is established that the Delano Kollie’s faction is protesting the Victor Wesseh’s leadership on grounds that the local convention was marred by deception and irregularities.  The information revealed that the Delano’s group does not endorse the candidacy of Mr. Augustus J. Flomo as the party senatorial candidate of the impending midterm election,  who was elected at the party’s local convention in Gbarnga early this year.Unconfirmed information gathered by this reporter indicated that the Delano Kollie’s faction is likely to throw weight behind independent candidate Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa president of Cuttington University, who has considered a run for the senatorial position of the county. At the same time, CDC national vice chairman for operations,  Mulbah Morlu, said the action exhibited Mr. Delano Kollie and his group is in contravention of the Party’s Constitution and it has the inclination to further split the party. Mulbah Morlu, in a strongly worded statement, said the CDC is contemplating issuing law suit against Delano Kollie if he does not abide by the constitution of the party and discontinue masquerading as a legitimate chairman of the party in the county.Mulbah Morlu, at the head of a four-man CDC delegation in Gbarnga last Monday,  informed CDC partisans that he was in the county to conduct investigation into a complaint filed against Mr. Kollie and his followers for  impersonating as CDC officials of the county. But Delano and his supporters did not attend the Mulbah Morlu’s investigation committee meeting.  The reason for the conspicuous absence of the fugitive CDC members was not explained by the Morlu’s committee. Morlu described Delano and his disciples as troublemakers and advised CDC partisans in the county not to pay attention to them.  Morlu  warned the public not to do business with Delano Kollie and his followers in the name of the party.Meanwhile, Mr. Mulbah Morlu has instituted a three-man independent committee headed by human rights activist George Philip Mulbah,  to conduct a self-determining investigation into the complaint against the renegades CDC and submit findings to the National Executive Committee of the party. He was quick to inform this newspaper that the committee members are not members of the CDC.At the same time, CDC has strongly warned Mr. Delano Kollie to remove the “CDC Bong 1” license plate from his vehicle or face court act, but Mr. Kollie is said to be assuming a defiant posture, as his car is still plying the “CDC Bong 1” license plate in the county.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
