VALENCIA – Newhall Coffee Roasting Co. is donating 12,000 pounds of its Patriot Blend to troops in Iraq and Afganistan, said co-founder Mitch McMullen. The donation coincides with the launch of the blend, which is sold at Ralphs grocery stores and at select Sam’s Clubs. The Patriot Blend, which combines beans from Sumatra and Costa Rica, quickly became popular with customers after Newhall introduced it in 2003, McMullen said. “If they can buy a cup of coffee and enjoy it at home and know there’s a soldier or Marine over there that’s enjoying the same thing, it’s just a feel-good cup of coffee,” McMullen said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
